The ConnectING Trade program at ING aims to replace the existing legacy Trade Finance Services Operating platform (Banktrade) and Trade Finance channel with a new platform and channel from Finastra (formerly Misys). The new platform Trade Innovation +, will deliver increased operational efficiency through automation, straight-through processing, standardization and better reporting. The implementation will deliver  improved quality and faster turnaround time for Trade Finance Services operations when servicing the ING clients, both domestic clients as well as international wholesale clients for products like Letter of Credit, Collections, Shipping guarantees and Bankguarantees.

Added Value Raven Consulting

As a Raven consultant in a Dev Engineer role, I ensured a proper connection between the Trade Innovation + application and the downstream reporting units for finance and risk. The role of Dev Engineer within the scrum team is responsible for the end to end delivery of the finance and risk interfaces. This ranges from requirements gathering over development towards testing and putting it in production.

In several releases we built up the finance interface to support the financial reporting for all products that will be serviced in the application Trade Innovation +. This was realized via a compatible Crystal Reports engine. The risk interface was written in plain SQL statements. Extensive knowledge of TI+ and the datamodel was gathered to deliver the correct information.

It was an interesting rollercoaster where we not only learned the new application, but also experienced the transition of a large organization towards a agile way of working with scrum teams being formed. Getting more understanding about agility, but also continuous delivery has been an interesting journey and learning phase.
